Baby And I Still Kicking… Literally.
Monday, April 7, 2008Yep, I’m still here… alive and well. Though my internet connection for my laptop has taken a turn for the worse and it’s driving me crazy to say the least! Darn router/network thingy. Hmmph. Obviously, I haven’t been online very much.
And… other than the puter/router/network stuff… I’d likely be better at calling each and everyone of you on the phone to chit chat. If it were possible, I’d be better at communicating this way.
Seriously, I’ll admit not being the greatest blogger out there. I’m anal and like things “just right” and want to entertain and provide pictures and blah blah blah.
Believe me… it annoys me too.

There’s been LOTS to blog about. It’s not exactly been boring around here. Rather busy and comical most of the time. For instance, there was the…..

As for Baby…
Baby is growing and doing well.
I’m trying to convince myself I actually look like I have a Baby Bump and it doesn’t look like a “beer… er… wine belly”. LOL!
I like my baby bump/wine belly… and all the action going on in there.

Not sure if I mentioned this previously, but we are NOT learning the baby’s gender ahead of time.
In years past, I was on the fence as to whether I’d want to know ahead of time. I thought it would be fine either way and a surprise whenever I found out… but DH decided he didn’t want to know ahead of time.
So we’re going with waiting.
I like the idea.
I’m a planner and… we’re waiting.
I am totally fine with waiting.

At the 20 week ultrasound we made sure the tech knew we didn’t want to know. At the end of the appt, I couldn’t help but ask her… “I suppose you know if it’s a boy or a girl?”
The tech answered coyly, “I think I may have an idea, but really am not sure.” Whether I believed her or not, I was totally relieved and happy with her reply.
Then, we go into the appt with the Doctor and as she’s reading the chart she says…. “Oh, I better hide this information since you want to wait.”
Apparently, the tech jotted down the answer in that chart.
I would have preferred Doctor pretending she didn’t know either… OR…. at least NOT mention THREE times in that short but significant 10 minute appt that “… IF WE CHANGE OUR MIND, just give the office a call.”
Gah!!
In the weeks since, Doctor’s offer has only driven me crazy 15% 30% 20% of the time.
And… I’ll admit, I occasionally, in those weak sugar overloaded moments, will ask DH if we should inquire at our next appt or if he really wanted me to… “I could call in the morning to find out.”
He doesn’t even hesitate when he answers, “No.”
Sooooo…. I really do agree with him and think it’s going to be exciting to learn the surprise at the birth….. and hear the glorious announcement of… “It’s a BOY!” or…. “It’s a GIRL!” BTW… We’re counting on those being the only options and/or surprising announcements.

Our little Firecracker keeps us entertained and is so very active… moving around, swimming laps… truly a little acrobat! It floors me how awesome it is.
Baby’s happily using my bladder as a little trampoline. More on that later.
At times, Baby takes me by such a surprise, I can’t help but let out a little gasp.
It doesn’t hurt, just sort of takes my breath away. A few times, I’ve had to shift how I was sitting or laying just to knock the little linebacker/cheerleader into a different position.
It’s all soooo cool!
The other morning, while laying on the couch… Josie (one of our 22lb French Bulldogs) was laying and snoring at the bottom of my belly, while Harper (our other 22lb Frenchie) was laying at the top of my belly snoring and using my belly as a chin rest.
Baby started to beating and pounding like there was a full drum set in there. Obviously, letting me know this wasn’t to be tolerated.
When I told DH about it… he figured Baby didn’t like all the noise from their not so soft snoring and snorting… and compared the whole scenario to a downstairs tennant knocking on the ceiling complaining to the upstairs neighbors. Too funny.
Oh… and DH even SAW Baby move the last few days while I was laying down. He said it was freaky the first time seeing my tummy move like that.
I love it.

I ask DH what Baby’s name is every day. This too, if we actually decide on a final boy and girl name, will be a surprise for the masses. I’m guessing any possible decision won’t be written in stone until it’s entered on the birth certificate.
We do have a handful of names which are faves, which he plays around with.. but every once in a while, he changes it up and throws me for a loop.

As for preparing for Baby, Baby’s Room, all that Baby Equipment and… EE-EEK… the delivery… it’s coming along.
Kinda.
I’m still trying to find someone to give birth for me but so far… no takers. ;) I have a few more months to figure that little deal out.

The Baby/Birthing Prep classes start in May?
They don’t want you to take the class too early… thinking… by some chance in HELL one might actually forget what to do.
It’s not something I’ll be forgetting.. considering IT’S been on my mind for the duration of this pregnancy so far.
I am taking each and every class offered out there… considering doubling up if necessary. I say the more information the better.
Women have been doing this for a LONG time… and even go in for seconds. And thirds, etc…
I suppose I could forget all that’s to be learned at class… but I have to be honest… all those times seeing the live birth video in “health class” starting in middle school and again EVERY year till graduating high school is something I haven’t been able to shake.
They start the scare tactics young in parochial schools. I guess you could say it worked, we only had one of our classmates get pregnant and this was in our Senior year. She had twins. I remember babies crying at graduation and she motioned to me they were her kids crying.

As For Things Crafty…. I’ve been sewing.
Finished MIL bag, made pillow cases for the nieces and nephews… and currently working on Baby stuff. You know… hopefully they’ll all be finished before Baby turns twelve?
Have pictures and stuff. Yeah… they’re on the laptop.
Hmmmph.

I’ve also been knitting! Yayyyy! At least a little bit.
Working on three… yes THREE little baby sweaters. One was started in January… it’s just needing sleeves. Yeah, it’s goin’ slowwwwwww. It’s around here somewhere. Sadly, I hadn’t really been in the knitting mood for a while into the New Year.
Then a few weeks back I got the urge to knit again and am almost finished with the Rocketry? baby sweater out of the uber colorful Dream In Color heaven (bought last Summer at Stitches Midwest) and am beginning another ‘Sweet Child Of Mine’ baby set in a cream Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino. The first one which I knit two years ago ended up going to a friend for her new grandson (never got pics, still waiting for them from friend) so I need to get knitting and make one for our little family again! It’s a fabulous Black Purl Design… will take pics when I’m further along and post about it and the other stuff.

So there’s a few things to let you know what’s going on in our little corner of the world.
I’ll be back!
Eventually…
Sooner than later…
I hope.
Wish me luck that I’ll actually get the laptop/router/network thingy up and running again.
In the meantime, feel free to email me your phone number and I’ll try and drop you a line.

Yeah, that would drive me nuts, too - the waiting and knowing that other people know. I think we’ve decided that we want to know - at least so I could knit and sew appropriate colors! I love green, but there’s only so far that will go.
I’m so happy that everything is going well! Other than the doctor driving you batty. LOL When I hit about my 7th month, the baby started up his nightly “aerobics” and the hubby said it looked like I had an alien trying to break free. LOL You could see an elbow (or knee) poke waaay out and then roll around. Then there would be a giant kick and my whole belly would shake.
Gave us lots of entertainment.
It’s good to hear that you and yours are doing well!! It seems like you’ve got plenty of stories waiting to be told, so I hope you’ll be able to do a bit more blogging in the future (but if not, it’s totally understandable why!).
As soon as I saw your YELLOWHOUSE pop up on my bloglines…I was anxious to know how all is going for you. I’m so happy that you’re doing well. Rejoin the blogging world when ever you can…and photos are’t a requisite. =0)
So glad to hear from you! I’ve been wondering. You know MollyBee is a very nice name for a daughter and a trendsetting one for a son…just sayin’.
Glad to know you are doing well. You guys are so patient in waiting. There was no way that my DH and I were going to wait. heehee…but I have been impatient.
I think I agree with your husband; that IS weird!
I admire your fortitude in waiting. I’d never be able to do that.
Great to see a nice long post from you - and most of all to hear you and baby are doing well
And kudos to you for waiting - I would never wanna know, at least on a first child.. I think the surprise is amazing, and just so cool.
So glad you are well and doing good. I was getting alittle worried, not having seen anything on your blog in awhile.
I loved licorice when I was pregnant. Must have eaten a ton in about 6 months.
Would love to talk with you so will email my phone number asap.
PS: you still have $20 to spend at The Yarn Grove
